Review of the Medifast Diet

By zoe | Jun 30, 2009

If you have never heard of the Medifast Diet than you might be in for a surprise. This program is fast, safe, simple, satisfying, and supportive. Many dieters endorse this diet including professional health workers and doctors.

This diet plan allows you to eat up to six meals a day and is a packaged plan. On this plan exercise is recommended for 30 to 45 minutes long for 3 to 5 times per week.

If you love to eat this is the diet for you. On the pro side you get to eat pre-made and already serving size meals sent to your doorway that you do not have to shop for. To stay on the plan all you do is eat one salad or green meal, which you prepare yourself, plus 5 Medifast packaged meals that you choose.

A pro to this program is no calorie counting and no measuring of meals. Another advantage is that on this diet you will not go hungry since you eat every 2 to 3 hours during the day.

On the downside, some feel slothfull and off for a few days when they first start this diet. You can work through this initial sluggishness period if you stick to your exercises and eat your meals as the diet plan suggests.

One issue that some dieters feel is an issue is the very low calorie intake per day . Most dieters on this weight loss plan take in around 800 calories per day. Although the caloric intake is low those following the plan will lose the weight quickly. On the con side if you only have a small amount of weight to lose like 5 or 10 pounds, this is not the reduction plan for you.

Also a disadvantage if you already do a lot of vigorous workouts you have to cut back to low impact exercise on this program.

This diet plan was only designed for short-period use. You will have to educate yourself and change the way you eat and what you eat to keep your weight loss. Many may fall back into their old ways.

Another argument against is there is very little program support better said none whatsoever available, not like other diet programs. You are pretty much on your own. Many people are disappointed with this, although others do not seem to care.

The Medifast plan has a wealth of data available on their website. Overall, this diet plan can assist you with your weight loss and to make better meal selections.
